Information and communication are vehicles of change, opportunities to understand the challenges, means to raise voices and tools to protect people in need. Media today represent the opportunity for that change and they are key players in promoting human rights, good governance and accountability and they contribute in building a democratic society.
Gmedia Center is a Geneva based initiative whose overall objective is to empower media to further civil society goals on human rights and democracy. Gmedia Center will facilitate the necessary interaction between international actors and the media to enhance journalists’ capabilities in human rights reporting and maintain these connections through a global web community dedicated to furthering civil society goals.
The Fundraising and Marketing Officer (Intern) is responsible for raising funds from corporate, NGO/NPO, and individual sources, to support marketing and communications, and to contribute to the wider organizational initiatives.
Note: this position is an unpaid internship.
Responsibilities
Fundraising 65%
• Desk review of potential private and public donors • Assist in application procedures • Document and maintain fundraising activities
• Contact donors as required• Identify and propose new fundraising initiatives
Marketing 35%
• Review existing marketing methods• Propose new marketing solutions for all aspects of Gmedia Center
Requirements
• Knowledge and experience in fundraising, marketing, and promotions• Excellent interpersonal skills • Motivated in communicating with a culturally diverse group of people• An interest and understanding in human rights and media issues • Candidate must be self-sufficient and have good English oral and written communications skills• German language skills a plus
