Enfants du Monde (EdM) is a Geneva-based non-governmental organization (NGO), established in

1968. Its objective is to help and protect children from disadvantaged countries through development

projects in the educational and health sectors. With the assistance of local partners, EdM is currently

working on 15 projects in seven of the world's most disadvantaged countries. The health programmes

support local organisations and Ministries of Health to implement the Individuals, Families and

Community framework to improve maternal and neonatal health (IFC framework of the World Health

Organisation) in Bangladesh, in Burkina Faso and in Salvador.

EdM currently is making available an internship position for a student of the University of Geneva in its

Health Department in Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E), starting September 2011 or by

arrangement, for 3 to 6 months. The intern will report to the Health Advisor and collaborate in

strengthening the monitoring and evaluation system for EdM’s health programme. Please note that this

internship is an unpaid position.


Internship description (main duties):

• Analysing existing M&E tools in use in the health programme

• Researching appropriate M&E methods

• Collaboration in developing a standardized M&E system for the health programmes

• Identifying indicators for monitoring

• Designing monitoring tools to be used by field offices in data collection

• Preparation of M&E reporting instructions

• Collaboration in preparing M&E training manuals

• Other tasks as necessary



• Fluency in French and English essential

• Training and/or experience in Public Health and M&E

• Prior experience in health promotion/health programming desirable

• Excellent verbal, written and analytical skills

• Interest in NGOs and international health and development

• Computer skills including word processing (Microsoft Word) and spreadsheets (Excel)

• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
